Max Bemis ha posted a new merch-direct item. For $150, Max will take 2-3 days to write a song about you, for you. All you have to do is write a paragraph or two about an experience or a problem or emotion you have that you would like in song form and he will write a pretty amazing song about it. He will send it to you and it wont be posted or released anywhere else.
He believes that this will be a great way to bridge the gap between artist and fan. Making it pretty expensive (if you're under 30, $150 is a lot to spend on a song.) keeps the number of requests to a manageable level.
He explains the process a little more in this video.
This got me to thinking about the fans from years past who probably would've paid more to have their favorite artist/musician write a song about them just for them. If Robert Plant or Pete Townsend or Neil Diamond wrote a song about you and then sent you the only recording of it, how happy would you be? Beyond happy I believe.
Now there are two obstacles to this being a reality for myself. This has never been done before and if it does happen again, I don't think it will be as special. So my first reaction was to send him a message and beg for a song.
However, obstacle one is the money. Being jobless has this poor affect on myself. $150 is a month and 1/2 at my internship.
Obstacle number two is the subject matter. I have been lucky enough to not be in a constant state of depression or dying from some illness that has yet to be cured. My friends and family love me and treat me well. But I am not the happiest I could be. I'm in a constant state of average. I'm content with my life. it is not horrible, yet it is not overly amazing.
So what do I ask Beem-Dawg to write about?
What would you ask one of your favorite musicians to write about you?
